Ministers poised to confirm details for quality accounts 04.02.2010
News Source:  The Health Service Journal

Nearly all trusts and private providers to the NHS will have to publish quality accounts for the first time this year, the government was expected to confirm this week.

The accounts were proposed in Lord Darzi’s next stage review final report as “reports to the public on the quality of services [trusts] provide in every service line - looking at safety, experience and outcomes”.

Community provider trusts and GPs are exempt from having to publish accounts until next year.

Regulations setting out what information will have to be put in the accounts were expected to be placed before Parliament tomorrow.

They will be closely based on proposals set out by the Department of Health in September, which require trusts to say how many of their service lines they have reviewed for quality
